These Nobuichi 160mm wire cutters are ideal for aluminum wire up to 3 or 4mm and copper wire up to 14ga.  They're small enough to handle 1mm aluminum and 22ga copper wire with ease.  The shears style handle is more comfortable for removing wire over an extended session.
